Camille and Stu from The Breeze Hamilton came up on a flight to familiarise themselves with the aircraft that Waikato Aviation will be providing for the 6 flights being provided on the 16th and 17th of March 2019. These flights are being given away to vulnerable kids. Stu and Camille are promoting this week. Thanks guys for providing another avenue for finding these special kids.

Our latest banner photo shows the Glasair of David Etchells who is helping Child Flight get around the country to our various meetings with schools planning this year’s Curious Minds leadership programmes. David flew us up to Whangarei on the 13/2/2019 to meet Paul Botica from Whangarei Intermediate who is helping us bring together up to 7 schools for the programme. We took the opportunity to visit the Capitaine Bougainville Theatre where we will be presenting the course over a week from the 18th March through to the 22nd.

Interesting statistic: The Glasair cruises at 195kts. That is 361KPH….

December 2018 Waikato Aero Club provided an aircraft for Child Flight’s winner Mary and her kids. Mary wrote the winning essay “why my kids deserve a flight” which was conducted through the Breeze Radio Station in Hamilton.

Saturday 22nd of September we got another flight away with L3 Academy for a young student from Patricia Avenue Special School. Our pilot Yohay Yagolnitzer allowed our youngster to handle the controls for a while. We are sure he won’t forget this experience in a hurry….

Saturday 1st of September, the start of Spring.  L3 Academy & Child Flight managed to beat the weather and get a flight away from Hamilton Airport in a Cessna 172.  3 very deserving passengers enjoyed a 30 minute flight over Hamilton & Raglan.  L3 Academy (previously CTC) provide training facilities at Hamilton Airport for aspiring commercial pilots who want to join the airlines.  They are a great partner for Child Flight as they provide us with local flight opportunities for special needs.  Their pilots are highly qualified with commercial pilot licences and flight instructor ratings.

Plans are under way to get as many as 70 kids in the air by the end of the year.  We will be combining the flights with our Curious Minds programme.  This is going to be a huge challenge to pull off!!

28 February was a great milestone in Child Flight's existence with the cementing of a wonderful relationship with L3 Airline Academy the recently changed name of CTC based in Hamilton.  L3 conducted a flight to Whangarei at the request of Child Flight where 2 flights were given to young students from Blomfield Special School.  Photos below say it all....

February 2nd 2018, we flew the Arrow up to Kaitaia for a further meeting with Fraser Smith.  Still on track for the big class of Curious Minds which has taken over 8 months to plan.

On Friday, 25th August we flew the FLYSTARK Airvan to Kaitaia to undertake 4 flights for our 2017 Curious Minds class.  We had been trying to get these flights away since April, but the weather had played havoc with our planning.  It was a relief to all when the high over the Tasman stayed around for a week!!!  The first flight of the day, see photo below:
